John Lee Sanders
It has been a wonderful blessing to use this wonderful gift of music to uplift the spirit in praise and adoration to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  As a composer and lyricist, as well as a performer and producer in contemporary and traditional music, I think that it is so crucial in setting the tone in how we worship and connect with God in a more mystical and beautiful experience.  We get so caught up in theology and Dogma sometimes, that music helps us bypass all of that and just feel wonderful in His prescence.
I believe that God has given me the annointing to carry his healing message of the Gospel to the body of Christ as well as those seeking something deeper in life.  I have worked with people of all ages, performed in jails, schools, workshops, hospitals, nursing homes, as well as some of the major venues and festivals of the world.  I have seen the power of music bring joy to the soul and reach those who might have been unreachable.  I went through a very rebellious phase in my walk with God, and left the church for many years.   Many of us musicians feel that if we don't become famous,  or our music does not reach the masses, we are not sucessful,  and that is so harmful in our growth, and in our purpose on this Earth.  We are all unique and special in God's eyes and he has a plan for everyone.
Music was God's way of bringing me back,  and has always had a way of  sowing the seeds in the heart of the unbeliever.    Whatever your relationship is to God, I just want to say that He loves you more than you will ever know, and I hope my music can express His love for you and how he wants to be a part of your life!

I sang in Church and school choirs since the age of 5 and studied classical voice in High School and  college level.   My high school choir performed in various competitions around the state and scored among the highest in the state of Alabama.  I composed my first choral work at age 18, from Psalm 121, and have written many Gospel and sacred works throughout my life. In my childhood in the  Mississippi Delta, music was what first  drew me to God, and I couldn't get enough of it. Everything from Handel's Messiah to  the Many wonderful sounds of African American Gospel music in the deep south.
I have been a soloist on voice, piano and organ at many Church services in the U.S.  . I am the organist at Beebe Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Oakland, a predominantly African American congregation, with a 20 voice choir where I  play Hammond Organ and piano in traditional Negro Spirituals, Contemporary Gospel, as well as familiar hymns and Classical pieces.
The members of the choir and I at Beebe Memorial are excellent at reading music as well as being able to flow with the movement of the Holy Spirit, in a joyful worship service that carries the annointing of God in the power of music.

I have written musicals, television and movie scores, and have been involved in drama presentations on the stage as well as in the orchestra pit.  I have produced many award winning Childrens CDs as well as conducted large workshops for young people of all ages.
In the Fall of 1999, in my solo tour of Europe, I organized one of the first Gospel workshops in Austria.  The demand was so great, that we had to turn people away.  I did an all day seminar-workshop, with a sell-out concert that night.  I am returning in May of 2001, and have included many more workshops througout Austria.

In 1997 and 98, I was the music director of a large production Christmas Pageant put on by the city of Salinas, California, where I composed and arranged the music, working with set, lighting, and video crews, Choreographers, musicians. actors, and singers of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.

My new Gospel CD, currently in progress, features members of The San Francisco "Glide Ensemble" choir, who have performed  for Bill and Hillary Clinton.  The Cd, entitled "Beacon Of Light" features  Original gospel songs inspired by dreams, visions, and the writings of the Gospel.  Also recorded are new arrangements of classic hymns, spirituals and American Black Gospel Music.
